I was so surprised, so surprised you noticed

So much hardship is just procrastination
so much joy consumes the way we learn
the line-up stretches for miles out from the station
once again it’s time to wait your turn

if I tried harder, hand on the fader
at least I tried

The years struck down in a process of elimination
the weeks swell up, sometimes sizzle, sometimes burn
the minutes pass, the past is another nation
and epiphany will also have to wait its turn

thought I’d take some time off from my station
as if absence was a way to settle the score

as if procrastination didn’t have its pleasures as well
if it’s something to buy, then why not buy it
likewise if it’s something to sell
